And there goes my hair – for Cansa

She will be growing her hair again and have it cut for another donation.

A seven-year-old Glen Marais girl decided to get rid of her pigtails in aid of Cansa – and plans to do it again.

Schezellé Odendaal sat down at a hairdresser on September 26 and four days later, two 30cm-long plaits were delivered by her in person to the Cansa head office in Bedfordview.

According to mom Cornelea, her daughter had been growing her hair since birth and only cut it about one centimetre at a time.

“Being a mom you always say I would never cut my daughter’s hair until she wants to have it cut. She made that decision two months ago and I booked her appointment at the hairdresser for the school holidays.

“She knows her hair is going for a good cause and understands that the hair will be made into a wig and donated to someone who really needs it,” said Cornelea.

She will be growing her hair again and have it cut for another donation at the end of Grade Seven.

Before cutting, Schezellé Odendaal’s hair was carefully measured to get the correct length for the donation.
Schezellé Odendaal boasts a modern new look after donating her hair to Cansa.
