EMPD appoints two new directors
Both directors fall under the auxiliary unit of the EMPD.
Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department appointed two new directors in its auxiliary services on October 1.
Director Ndumiso Gcwabe, who started in 2002 under the eastern region (Benoni) and later progressed to the training academy, was in law enforcement for 17 years. He will remain responsible for the academy.
Director Johnny van der Merwe, who has 34 years’ experience within the municipality in law enforcement, remains in the logistics unit.
“Remain as faithful as you are and be the role players to the recently appointed recruits. Continue rendering services to members of the community since you are occupying these crucial positions. Trust is in my vocabulary because of your experience and dedication,” said the chief of police, Isaac Jabulani Mapiyeye, at the ceremony, hosted at the metro police headquarters in Kempton Park.
