Decomposing body found in veld in Van Riebeeck Park
Sgt Johanna Madig told Express it looked like the man died about two weeks ago
A decomposing body of a man was discovered in an open veld in Van Riebeeck Park on Tuesday morning last week.
The body was found by a passer-by in the veld between Pretoria Road and Soutpansberg Drive behind nearly townhouses.
Sgt Johanna Madiga, spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, told Express it looked like the man died about two weeks ago and that the identity of the man was unknown at this stage.
“We are looking for the family of the deceased as nothing was found on him that could help identify him,” said Madiga.
“We are not sure of the cause of death but a rope on one of the trees and around the deceased’s neck was among the things discovered on the scene but the body was found on the ground.
