Fourth birthday celebrations for EFF Ward 133

Economic Freedom Fighters celebrate their fourth anniversary at Ward 133 branch.

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) invited the community of Ivory Park to celebrate their EFF Ward 133 branch’s fourth anniversary on October 12.

The political structure celebrates their anniversary every year during their birth month – October. The branch was first launched in October 2015. Percy Silusa, EFF Ward 133 branch secretary, said the main aim and the objective of their annual anniversary celebration are to gather the community under one roof to address issues that are affecting our community, whether negatively or positively, report back what they did for the community and find a way forward together with the constituency.

The entertainment came from local groups, including Bathi Siyafana, Izinceku, Umehluko Art Production, Impumelelo Yethu Drum Majorretes, Royalty dancers, and Gifted Souls entertainment performed their play titled Tragic Times.

Silusa also said their aim is for the community to work together against the high crime rate in Ivory Park, in particular in Ward 133.

“We had a protest march in February with the community to try and appeal to the police to take their work serious. The official political programme of our fourth anniversary kicked off at about 6pm with the national anthem and a moment of silence to commemorating our fellow fighter who lost her life a week before our anniversary celebration.

“The keynote address was then done by the chairperson of branch, Klaas Seerane.

Seerane said as a branch they managed to secure a mobile kiosk for the Ivory Park CPF through the protest march they had in February.

“As a branch, we are also resolving issues of community members who were almost evicted from Mabena squatter camp and Joe Slovo squatter camp. Securing water and sanitation at Lusaka View for our residents was on top of our agenda. We also increased the number of votes received in the general elections compared to 2016, which means we have achievements to celebrate,” said Sereme.
