Ivory Park Section Two was painted with red as throngs of Frelimo political party members residing in the country and in particularly in Tembisa converged at the local community hall as part of their final election campaign.
Led by their leaders, the current Mozambican Minister of Youth Leonor Mondlane and Nyeleti Mondlane, the party’s executive committee member, local party members told their leaders they were ready to go home and cast their votes.
“There is no way we cannot go home and exercise our rights to decide who gets to lead us from parliament.
“We envy the people of South Africa because when it is time for elections they don’t relax, they go all out to vote for their favorite parties. This is what has motivated me to also want to exercise my rights to vote.

“I am leaving on Monday and I plan to stay there until the results are announced,” said Gabriel Mabasa, who has been living in the country for the past 15 years.
Mozambique held their general election on Tuesday and official results were expected to start coming out from today and over the weekend.
Frelimo has ruled Mozambique for the past 44 years.
Addressing members during their final campaign, Mondlane promised party members that they will come back here to slaughter cows for the entire Ivory Park, but only if they win the elections.
“I want to make a commitment that if you all go back home and vote for us once again, I will personally ensure that the entire executive comes here and slaughter five cows just to celebrate with you. All that we need from you, our loyal members, is to go home and vote,” she said.
Streets and a number of houses in this section were all painted with red flags bearing the face of Frelimo leader and Mozambique’s current president Filipe Nyusi.
