Department launches Health Employee Value Proposition at Tembisa Hospital
No one can really lead a successful organisation unless they have an energetic, dedicated and innovative team behind them.
Tembisa Hospital played host to the official launch of the Gauteng Department of Health Employee Value Proposition.
Championed by MEC for health Dr Bandile Masuku, this programme is aimed at investing in the morale of healthcare workers, addressing their challenges and ensuring a conducive working environment for them.
Speaking during the launch on Thursday, Tembisa Hospital CEO Dr Lekopane Mogaladi said he was excited about the programme, which he hoped would answer and address many of their challenges.
“I would like to applaud the MEC for health for coming up with this initiative. This is one of the great initiatives that we are going to fully support because we understand the value of our employees.
“No one can really lead a successful organisation unless they have an energetic, dedicated and innovative team behind them.
“We therefore have to ask serious questions, such as what are we investing in our staff members so that we may have the desirable return on investment?
“Often times, we expect the best from our employees and yet we are less mindful of the mere principle that what you put in determines what you get out,” he said.
He added that it was fundamental to fully realise that employees or staff members are the core of every institution.
“When we talk about an organisation, we are talking about people who comprise of their skills, knowledge and time.
“Knowing this has led me to fully appreciate this programme because it speaks to the heart of investing in our employees, so as to ensure that we get desired returns. I value every staff member regardless of the work that they do,” he said.
Mogaladi also mentioned the fact that public healthcare workers often work under hard and challenging circumstances, which, in the end, lead to a lack of productivity.
“Allow me to say this without fear or favour, our staff members within the health fraternity have been very challenged. I am talking about the well-known issues of staff shortages which often propel our employees to go beyond their call of duty in order to cover certain critical areas, and this has led to a lack of productivity,” he said.
