Hopefully the lights will stay on this week

There will be no load shedding on Monday

No load shedding will take place on Monday with Eskom also being hopeful that the rest of the week will remain without blackouts.

Although the system remains constrained and vulnerable, improvements have been made as several units returned to service from planned and unplanned maintenance, Eskom said in a statement on Sunday evening.

“We are achieving a healthy water level at our pumped storage schemes to prepare for the week ahead. Eskom continues to replenish diesel level reserves for the open cycle gas turbines which enable us to avoid and/or minimise load shedding.

“Repairs are progressing well on the conveyer belt at Medupi power station, which could reach full capacity by the end of the week,“ said Eskom.

While every effort is made to avoid load shedding, it could still be implemented at short notice should there be a significant shift in plant performance and increased unplanned technical breakdowns, Eskom warned.

Customers are encouraged to continue to use electricity sparingly.
