Church jumps in to clean four parks in Kempton Park
Christian Family Church makes a tremendous difference at various parks in Kempton park
Christian Family Church on Atlas Road was very excited to serve the Kempton Park community on October 19.
The City of Ekurhuleni granted them permission to upgrade four parks, namely Blaauwpan, Gladiator Park, Rose Park and Vironia Park.
Many church members came to help clean up, cut trees, sand, repair and paint park equipment such as benches, tables, large dustbins, as well as sanding and painting all the children’s play equipment.
A pump was also installed for a fountain in one of the parks.
Past Felicity Baatjies, who was leading the group at Gladiator Park in Rhodesfield, said members of the church were trying to make a difference, one trash bag at a time, ensuring that the parks are clean.
“We are giving back to the community and showing them our community work and that we care. We scraped off old paint and refurbished the swings,” said Felicity.
Past Fazel Baatjies adopted Rose Park and he was excited to help clean and renovate it. He said the congregates were happy to be part of the initiative and that he wanted the community to know the park belonged to them.
“If the community can start looking after the environment and take care of the facilities around them, it’s going to make a difference,” said Fazel.
The church believes in reaching out to people through these life-changing practices. Members of the community can be part of the welfare team.
The team is a group of people that discovered their gifts and passions were to actively serve the community.
