Bully video: mother admits victim swallowed pills

The boy’s mother is not sure what provoked the attack as her son does not know the boy.

Police have already taken a statement from the Grade Nine Hoërskool Kempton Park bully victim who was attacked in one of the school’s bathrooms.

Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Sgt Dipuo Ditshego confirmed a case of assault is being investigated.

According to the boy’s mother, more statements will be taken from learners at the school on Friday.

She told Kempton Express on Friday that her son could not continue with his exams as he had been booked off due to post traumatic stress.

She confirmed her son took an overdose of pills on Tuesday.

“He did not know the pills he took and was not taken to hospital. However, he slept for almost two days.”

A video of the incident, which was widely shared on social media platforms, showed a fellow learner punching the boy and kicking him before slamming his body onto the tiled bathroom floor.

“Luckily, my son did not suffer a concussion. However, he did sustain injuries to his jaw, back, ribs and sustained various bruises. We took him for X-rays on Thursday evening,” she said.

The boy’s mother is not sure what provoked the attack, as her son had only been at Hoërskool Kempton Park for six months and does not know his attacker at all.

The disciplinary process against the learner seen in the video attacking the boy is still underway.
