Thando Lamula-Shirinda from Tembisa was crowned Mrs Africa 2020 on Saturday at the Association of the Portuguese Community of Pretoria (ACPP) on November 2.

This beauty with brains will also be representing Africa at the United Nation International pageant in Canada in August 2020. During the pageant week Mrs Africa won many awards, including Best Contests Gift, Best Sponsor Support, Best ’60s Outfit and Most Inspirational. During the crowning ceremony she won the awards for Best Interview and Best Portfolio.

Lamula-Shirinda is also the Face of Africa first princess.

As a finalist, Lamula-Shirinda hosted a High Tea for Dignity through her education foundation, the Sui-Generis Foundation Trust, to raise funds for school shoes for learners. On October 11 she donated the shoes to Ebony Park Primary and JB Matabane Secondary School in Ivory Park.

Lamula-Shirinda said she was humbled by the win and over the moon, and she thanked Africa Pageants for believing in her.

“I am thankful to my personal sponsors and my fans. But, most importantly, no words can express how lucky I am to have a great support system like my family and friends.”

Mrs Africa said she and her two coaches, Luzanne Heunis and her daughter Charne, worked really hard to ensure that her public appearances were always of a high standard.

“I now have big shoes to fill as my successor and mentor Mrs Reinette Herbst Hoshoff is one of a kind. Reinette inspires me in many ways and I look up to her,” said Lamula-Shirinda.

Mrs Africa thanked the CEO of Africa Pageants, Carolyn Baldwin Botha, for being a significant driving force in her life.

“Carolyn ‘Aunty Cal’ Botha has given me a lifetime opportunity and I shall forever remain appreciative of her. To all my fans who voted for me, thank you for all your votes,” said Lamula-Shirinda.
