New Miss Tembisa pageant owner is not just a pretty face

Mabitsela, former Miss Tembisa, has to pinch herself to confirm that she is finally living her dream.

She is instantly likable. This is how best one can describe Boitumelo Ratile Mabitsela, the new owner and CEO of the now revamped Miss Tembisa beauty pageant.

Many people love her for a lot of different reasons. Models and modelling fans love her because she is a dynamic and charismatic personality who is equally skilful at running her own businesses.

It’s no doubt that in Hollywood Mabitsela would have been ‘The It girl’.

Born and bred in Tembisa, Maukeng Section, Mabitsela may not be in Hollywood, but she is great at what she does and she certainly is one of the gifted few with both looks and brains.

Mabitsela, former Miss Tembisa, has to pinch herself to confirm that she is finally living her dream.

The wife, who runs a string of businesses with her husband, Lehlogonolo Mabitsela, recently opened up to this newspaper about her latest achievement, the Miss Tembisa annual beauty pageant.

“My interest in the pageant actually dates back to 2013, just after I had been crowned Miss Tembisa. I remember I even told the previous owners of the pageant that I would love to own it one day. And after years of perseverance, I finally got to own the show. Yes, you are looking at the new owner of Miss Tembisa. It really feels like I am dreaming,” said Mabitsela.

Passionate about modelling, Mabitsela, who grew up a shy kid, said she had always wanted to own her own beauty pageant and a modelling agency.

“Growing up ekasi (township) and seeing so many talented people with little opportunities sparked a burning desire in me to come and plough back by creating opportunities for locals. Being passionate about modelling and seeing so many modelling geniuses out there has led me to buying the Miss Tembisa pageant. I am also in the process of establishing a modelling school and a casting agency that will assist many aspiring models from the township to turn professional, and maybe even earn a living through modelling,” she said.

With all her achievements, Mabitsela remains a calm and humble business person, a trait she said she learnt from her husband who is also an astute business magnet.

A University of Johannesburg graduate, Mabitsela continues to work and study hard as she is currently pursuing an honours degree in programmes management.
