Two injured as light aircraft crashes in Springs
Both were transported to hospital by Netcare 911

According to William Ntladi, spokesperson for Ekurhuleni emergency services, a pilot and his student were injured in this morning’s plane crash in Springs.
“Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) firefighters and paramedics swiftly responded to the corner of Olympia and Moepel roads in Springs for rescue intervention,” Ntladi said.
Both men were still in the plane when they arrived. Pre-hospital medical treatment was initiated immediately before transportation to a hospital still in Springs.
Ntladi said according to information from the scene the aircraft was approaching a landing strip at a Springs airfield when it went down. Both roads had to be closed for traffic.
The cause of the crash is still a subject of investigations by the Civil Aviation Authorities.

Two men were injured on Monday morning when their light aircraft crashed in Springs around 7am.
According to Shawn Herbst, spokesperson for Netcare 991, they responded to reports of a plane crash on Joubert Street in Springs.
“When medics arrived on scene, they found a single engine light aircraft with substantial damage on the centre median. The patients, both males, had sustained minor to moderate injuries and were treated on the scene before being transported by ambulance to hospital for further treatment,” said Herbst.
