The annual Walala Wasala beauty pageant was hosted at Rabie Ridge Community Hall on November 9.
Organiser Lindokuhle Zwane said the aim of the pageant is to create awareness to the public about the local Walala Wasala brand, which hosted the contest.
In the process, said Zwane, the brand is giving back to the community by empowering contestants, and encouraging them to become role models in their own community.
“The pageant was successful even though we didn’t have sponsors. We managed to bring the audience the best show they could possibly wish for,” added Zwane.
The pageant winners were Perseverance Motha, crowned the queen; Precious Mabala, he first princess; Prudence Maredi, the second princess; and Siphesihle Mtshweni, crowned Miss Personality and the Best Vote.
“The Queen received R1 000 cash prize, a medal and trophy and Walala Wasala outfit. The first princess received a trophy, Walala Wasala outfit, a medal and R600 in cash prize; the second princess got a trophy, a medal, Walala Wasala outfit and R300 cash prize. Miss Personality and the Best Vote winner got two trophies, a medal, and Walala Wasala outfit.
“People should expect pure fire and a well organised event next time we stage this event,” said Zwane.
