Local beauty crowned Mrs Africa Global United

The Enxiweni Section-based beauty queen cleaned out the awards cabinet

And the winner is … Thembi Monametsi. This was the announcement the packed ACPP Hall in Pretoria has been waiting for.

And at that moment, Monametsi walked to the front to be officially crowned the new Mrs Africa Global United and Mrs Africa first princess.

“Being crowned was absolutely remarkable. I was filled with so many emotions when that moment came. It finally dawned on me during that moment that everything that I’d set out to do, from the word go, had come to fruition. I can now be the hope that women need.

“They can look at me and see hope. I love my new title. It’s always been about the charity. It’s helping me to help others even more,” she said.

The Enxiweni Section-based beauty queen cleaned out the awards cabinet after she was also voted best model and walked away with best national outfit with her 1960’s outfit.

“This is not just about beauty. It is about uplifting the community and women who want to make a difference. I did various projects in the community for me to be given the titles that I’ve won,” she said.

“I am looking forward to competing on a global stage. I still cannot believe that I won the title of Mrs Africa Global United. When I arrived at the venue, and having met the other participants, I told myself that I would be comfortable with winning anything and it took me by surprise when my name was called as a winner,” continued Monametsi.

Before the grand finale Monametsi faced many challenges which she later overcame.

“I had no idea that this is where I’d be today. When you have gone through as much as I have, you kind of don’t expect things like this to happen. I really just wanted to be the voice for the voiceless,” she said.

She said women from different walks of life, each with a unique story to tell, have been one of the highlights of her journey as a Mrs Africa finalist.

“I’ve met some women who have gone through some of the worst possible things in their lives. And when I shared my story with them, the reception I received was absolutely priceless,” she said.
