MEC to give details about Snake Road sinkhole repairs

The road has been closed since November 2

Gauteng MEC for Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure Jacob Mamabolo and a team of geotechnical experts will visit the site of the sinkhole on Snake Road in Benoni today [Tuesday] at noon.

The MEC will also provide a status update regarding the sinkhole.

The geotechnical experts have been investigating remedial repair methodologies to the road.

In the meantime the road remains closed. Motorists are urged to use the Tom Jones off-ramp when travelling towards Heidelberg and those from the south are urged to use Pioneer and turn right into Bunyan Street.

The sinkhole was discovered in the early hours of November 2.
