EMPD out in full force in Tembisa on Friday morning

The roadblocks form part of the metro's launch of its festive road safety campaign

Tembisa motorists were in for a big surprise on Friday morning when they were greeted by road blocks set up by Ekurhuleni Metro Police.

Such unannounced and random roadblocks will be the order of the day throughout the festive season.

This is according to the City of Ekurhuleni EMPD acting director, Gwen Jina, during the launch of the festive season road safety campaign in Tembisa early on Friday morning.

The city officially launched the safety campaign with a number of roadblocks, whereby drivers and vehicle roadworthiness were thoroughly inspected.

Over 1 000 vehicles were stopped in just over an hour.
