Ivory Park teen’s Pad Angels support less fortunate girls

Lorraine Khoza from Ivory Park Extension 12 recently formed the NGO Pad Angels, which runs a campaign to donate sanitary pads to girls who are less fortunate.
Khoza matriculated from Ivory Park Secondary School in 2018. The 18-year-old is currently studying towards a higher certificate in office administration at Rosebank College. Her ultimate goal is to study financial information systems.
Khoza explained that young girls from underprivileged backgrounds share their sanitary towels with their mothers and siblings of the same household, but venereal disease can be transmitted through sharing.
“Studies show that most of the underprivileged girls miss school for at least three to four days each month over menstruation. These issues are not talked about in the township communities due to embarrassment, lack of understanding and the low priority given to such problems,” said Khoza.
“I am an extroverted person and I enjoy helping those who are in need. By forming the campaign I hope to help the less fortunate by donating sanitary pads to them. My motto is that ‘Without rain, nothing grows. Learn to embrace the storm in your life.’
“Those who would like to help me make a difference through this campaign and willing to help donate to the less fortunate can kindly contact me on Whatsapp at 084 941 9954 or call 074 406 2150, Facebook: Lorraine Ntombii Khoza, Instagram: Lorraine_Ntombii_Khoza.
