Be sober, vigilant and always alert this festive season. This is a message by Pastor Mandla Ngubeni of the Abundant Life Christian Church based in Teanong Section.
The man of the cloth has warned that the festive season is one time most people switch off and this leads them to be vulnerable to the enemy.
“Be sober minded and be watchful, the enemy roars like a lion looking for whom it may devour. This is one season people don’t look for sin but sin is everywhere looking for any prey it may devour. Many things are going to be happening during this time and as they happen remember to stay on your guard at all times,” warned Ngubeni.
He continued, “To be sober means to apply self-control. And the opposite of that is being drunk about earthly things that usually take place during the festive season.”
He added that it is during this season where crime, especially contact crimes such as murder and rape, escalates.
“This is because many people switch off and forget their normal daily routine which includes among others, prayer. So, this is the time when we must be stronger in prayer, to pray against road accidents and pray for the safety of our children as they roam around the streets in the spirit of the festive festivities.
“I would like to implore everyone, everywhere to be sober, vigilant and alert, and above all, to continue fasting and praying during this time of the year. It is not wrong to go and have a good time and enjoy yourselves, but remember to stay sober and keep in mind that the festive brings with it things that really destroy,” he concluded.
