Tembisa Police caution Black Friday shoppers

shoppers should consider travelling in groups

The Tembisa police are appealing to shoppers to be extra vigilant and guard against criminals as they do shopping today as part of the Black Friday festivities.

Police spokesperson, Capt Ralidzhivha Manyadza, warned that criminals are most likely to be targeting shopping malls and car parking spaces.

“We would like to urge shoppers to be extra careful and always look after their belongings. It would be wiser to just use bank cards rather than carrying cash because this on its own attracts criminals,” advised Manyadza.

He further advised that shoppers should consider travelling in groups so it would be difficult for criminals to attack them.

“Don’t be carried away and be fooled by strangers either at the shopping malls or in the streets. They are out there to con you of your hard earn money and they are using every trick in the book to steal your moneys. So be extra careful and remember to quickly report to security around the malls if you suspect any foul play or being followed around,” he added.

He encouraged the public to call the police on 011-920-8000 or the emergency line 08600 10111 and report cases and any suspicious activities.
