Tembisa-based royal house hosts open alliance

We wanted to promote culture and make people understand that we are of the Ndebele Kingdom

The Tembisa royalty of AmaNdebele akwa Ndzunza Mabhoko held an Alliance Collaboration celebration meeting at Moses Molelekwa Community Centre in Tembisa on Saturday last week.

The event saw dignitaries of chiefs from Mpumalanga, members of Gauteng Legislature and local representatives from different stakeholders, including the SAPS and Faith Based Organisation, attend.

The Tembisa-based royal house of the AmaNdebele akwa Ndzunza Mabhoko chief, chief Macingwane II, was also present. The audience was graced by performances from local Ndebele musicians.

Macingwane II said the event aimed at educating the community about the structures of the royal kingdom of the Mabhoko, while at it educating the community about royalty in the urban areas and how it works hand in hand with the community.

“Another purpose of the event was to have an open alliance with stakeholders to better each others’ work within the communities we all serve as we had members of the legislature, SAPS representatives and Faith Based Organisation representatives attend,” said Macingwane II.

“We wanted to promote culture and make people understand that we are of the Ndebele Kingdom, but we serve all cultures as we are in an urban area with different cultures.

“They were toaght about the appointment of traditional leaders from the King phase to chief and to the office barriers and told about how a chief is given an area of jurisdiction and how he can further appoint his leaders (Amakhosana and Amaduna).”

Macingwane II said as the Tembisa royal house they have an open-door policy for memebers of the community to come and seek information or help.

“We get to help people within our area of jurisdiction with customary law issues, title deeds and other social issues, including bursaries and eliminating crime within the society,

“For one to be able to stand up with pride and say I am a valid chief in the urban area like Tembisa, they have to be registered with the City of Ekurhuleni and the Gauteng Legislature in order to be appointed an area of jurisdiction,” he said.

The Macingwane royal house is located in Emqantsa Section in Tembisa.
