Ivory lass makes a difference in her community

Born the only child she says she always tries to share her fortunes with others.

Young, sophisticated and the beautiful Unathi Tyumre (16), who is the founder of We Are Golden ZA, a non-government organisation (NGO) is currenly running a book drive.

The Grade 10 lass from Ivory Park, Lindokuhle section, is also the Mr and Miss Uniform finalist and attends school at Eqinisweni Secondary School.

Born the only child she says she always tries to share her fortunes with others.

Tyumre says her organisation aims to help the youth who suffers from depression through a support group that is held at school during lunch hour. They are also trying to reduce the suicide rate, which was high in 2018.

“Last year the stats of suicide were so high, so I thought I could do something about it.

The former PS Tsosane Primary School learner started a book drive in November in need of filling the gap between reading and learning, especially when it come to the youth.

Tyumre continues to say reading is a skill and a treasure that no one can take away from you. Good vocabulary and good reading skills are important to an upcoming citizen.

“Reading must be fashionable among young children, meaning that they need to read at least one paragraph a day in order to improve their reading skills.

“I am collecting books with the focus to donate them to needy NPO’s and NGO’s so the children in these centre’s can have books to withdraw knowledge from and help them grow.

“We have already identified Tumelo Home and Thuthukani Care Centre,” said Tyumre.

As days go by she continues to look forward to her first pageant debut as she entered Mr and Miss Uniform 2019/20 which will be hosted at Moses Molelekwa on December 13.

She says she entered the pageant because she wanted a platform that will enable her to serve and touch the community while she grows her confidence in modeling.

The ever-smiling Tyumre’s doors are open for those who would love to help her in collecting books and donate them to charity stakeholders. Anyone wiling to help can contact her at Unathityumre@gmail.com or call 067 712 4502/ 067 714 4671, Facebook We are Golden ZA and Instagram Unathityumre.
