Community celebrated the opening of the new mall at Ebony Park opposite Busy Corner Shisanyama on November 28.
Busy Corner Mall is a R135-million investment, which took less than two years to open after the development broke ground. It took hard work and teamwork to produce a state-of-the-art landmark in the community, which was celebrated during its opening on Thursday.
Lerato Kgiba, mall manager, said as developers and owners of the mall, they want to ensure that they can uplift the surrounding community. So far, over 200 community members have directly or indirectly benefited from employment opportunities, either during construction or have been hired by the retailers, and cleaning and security companies. We look forward to growing the sustainable employment opportunities over time.

“We hosted a VIP breakfast for all the team, the tenants and community guests to celebrate the milestone. The ward councillor cut the ribbon and officially opened Busy Corner Mall.
“The excitement, when the gates opened at 9am, was clear to see for everybody. Our shoppers looked in awe of their beautiful surroundings and the shop owners welcomed them into their shops by offering some amazing specials. There were smiles all round and the children looked like they were having the most fun.”
Black Friday was a special occasion and was celebrated in style at the mall, with a host of activities planned for the community. These included Spin and Win and Pop and Win where prizes worth thousands of rands were given away on the spot. There were jumping castles for the children, balloons, characters, jugglers, face painters and a number of other activities on the day.

The mall gave away R200 000 in shopping vouchers and had over 7 000 entries in its competition and 400 lucky winners were announced on the day. Each person won a R500 shopping voucher that they could spend at Busy Corner Mall.
“We hope that the community will embrace the mall and be proud of the asset that will serve them for many years to come. Our strategy is to align ourselves with the community and build strong positive relationships going forward.
“This is the start of an exciting journey at Busy Corner Mall, and we hope it will grow from strength to strength and that the community will enjoy shopping and spending time in a modern, clean and safe environment,” added Kgiba.
