Residents donate at Bulamahlo charity event
Businesses drive charity event for community-based children's home and care centre.
Community members enjoyed a fun fulfilled day when local businesses hosted the third annual Bulamahlo Home and Day Care Centre Fund-raising event at Ribs Circle in Moteong section, Tembisa, on December 1.
Bulamahlo Home and Day Care Centre was opened in 1989 by Regina Sekgobela in Lifateng, Tembisa. It was first opened as a day care centre to provide education and childcare to the community.
Thabiso Percy Sebake, Ribs Circle’s sales and communications manager, said they want to thank every stakeholder that managed to come through and made a donation.
“We are thrilled to have your support. Through your donations we have been able to accomplish the event’s mission and goals as we continue working towards fulfilling the purpose of this initiative. You truly make the difference for us, and we are extremely grateful.
“We realise that together we are making a difference. Your continued support of our mission is deeply gratifying and we hope it is the same for you.
“We were honoured to see you honouring our invitation, truly motho ke motho ka batho, the spirit of ubuntu was truly shown,” said Sebake.
The Bulamahlo charity event aims to unite the community in the name of thanksgiving to the community’s children. They are taught about opportunities that surrounds them within their community and possibilities they can pursue with their talents and skills. The children and community enjoyed the jumping castles and drinks from Skyrule drinks and music from DJs.
The Carrus Recruitment Agency team also collected curriculum vitaes (CVs) from unemployed community members to offer them employment. Councillor of Moteong section Dimakatso Dlamini gave a thanksgiving speech and took the opportunity to warn the community of water scarcity in Gauteng as we enter December.
Sebake said: “There are unknown young leaders on the corners of our streets, all we have to do is teach them how to love, unite and give. Teach them to serve their God-given talent.”
They received donations from the community as well, and local entrepreneurs and talent had an opportunity to show what they are made of.
“We always want to collaborate with local businesses and promote the spirit of giving and unity among black communities to inspire the youth to pursue their dreams,” said Sebake.
“Our goal was to provide donations to the Bulamahlo Home and Day Care Centre, have a children’s fun area and a stage as platform for local talent exposure.
“We would love to show our gratitude the community, Ribs Circle, Skyrule drinks, The Wash, JM Meats, Carrus, Athistic Computers, Glo-Nation, A2Pay, Tembisa Print, MC Brands, Holydays EveryDay, Pitseng Food Emporium, Bulamahlo Home, Gontse Events and Makhozikazi their input into the success of the event and putting smiles on the children’s faces,” said Sebake.
Local celebrities Da Pablo, DJ Sthibo and Khanyi The Poet also attended the event, and actress Nndivhaleni Netshiavhela was the MC.
