League donates breastfeeding books to libraries
Breastfeeding support groups gather once a month in Benoni to offer support and information

La Leche League South Africa, an organisation which assists mothers with breastfeeding, recently donated copies of its book to two Kempton Park libraries.
Bonaero Park and Kempton Park libraries each received a copy of The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding.
La Leche League is an international organisation with a mission to help mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information and education, and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and mother.

“Breastfeeding is of immense importance to babies and young children and to their mothers. We hope this book, which is published by La Leche League International, the world authority on breastfeeding, will assist new mothers to breastfeed their babies,” said Juanita Lee of the organisation.
“We hope it will encourage and enable them to follow the recommendations of the World Health Organisation: that babies should be exclusively breastfed for their first six months, followed by the gradual introduction of nutrient-rich solid foods while breastfeeding continues for up to two years of age or beyond.”
Additional copies of this book may be purchased from La Leche League South Africa’s Stock Depot: books@lllsa.org
Breastfeeding support groups gather once a month in Benoni to offer support and information to breastfeeding mothers. If you are interested in joining, contact Lee on 063 684 7673.
