Eskom switches to stage 4 load shedding: Monday’s load shedding schedule

Prospects for the week are looking bleak

10.30am Monday:

Due to the loss of additional generating units on Monday morning, Eskom has switched to stage 4 load shedding as from Monday at 10am. It will continue until 11pm tonight.

“In addition with the incessant rain, we are starting to experience flooding at some of our power stations, which have lead to further load losses.”

Original story:

There is still no light at the end of the Eskom tunnel with stage 2 load shedding continuing on Monday and possibly for the rest of the week.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Eskom said it lost additional units, making the system very vulnerable. Unplanned breakdowns increased to 12 000MW at 7pm on Sunday, resulting in stage 2 load shedding implemented throughout the night.

“Regrettably we have been unable to conserve water and diesel as required to stop or to minimise load shedding for the coming week.”

Stage 2 load shedding will continue until 11pm on Monday night, said Eskom.
