CamChild wins two photography awards

Tembisa photographer wins big in Live Your Dream Youth Awards.

Tembisa-born professional photographer Sibusiso ‘CamChild’ Mazibuko brought home two awards for excellence in photography on November 30.

The first was for Best Photographer at the Live Your Dream SA Youth Awards, held in Durban, and the second was for Best Youth Photographer in the Youth Achievers Awards, held at Key West in Krugersdorp.

He said winning was an amazing feeling that no one can take away from him.

“I feel blessed and grateful. I have been passionate about photography for over seven years, trying to grow and sharpen my skills in the photography industry. It’s through God’s grace that I have been able to make it this far in photography, along with the support from my family, especially my mother, Ma Zwane,” said Mazibuko.

“I remember my first time doing street photography. I was walking around Tembisa taking pictures. It was an amazing moment.

“A lot of people contributed to my photography career, such as my spiritual home Word Praise Christian Centre International, where I was given a chance to serve in the media department after I joined the church. Since then I have never looked back and I have kept on serving.

Sibusiso ‘CamChild’ Mazibuko has won two awards for Best Photographer and Best Youth Photographer.

“Serving God opened a lot of doors. I had the chance to study film and television and I attracted a lot of clients. I also met great people who contributed to my career, such as Thapelo Machaba, Abuti Frans Pooe, Sister Nasiphi, my mentor Kutlwano Makgalemele and Keith Koogen Moodly.”

Mazibuko said his spiritual parents, Apostle Solly Mahlangu and Nomkhosi Mahlangu, contributed a lot to his life spiritually, emotionally and physically and he had grown through their teachings and support.

“They have been the greatest parents ever that God has blessed me with. It was through my family, spiritual parents, my big family Word Praise Christian Centre International and Ama Word Amahle that I won, because of their endless support in voting for me every single day. I am grateful and blessed for the support also from my neighbours and the community at large. To the Tembisan newspaper and all media who published my nominations, I am thankful.

“My next journey is to grow my photography business with a focus on film and television. I have a lot of things that I need to do, but all of them require finance. God will make a way for me to make all the ideas I have a reality. Next year, 2020, is my year and I will experience God’s grace in everything I do. It’s grace upon grace,” said Mazibuko.
