Summore Market donates food parcels to grannies

Summore Market celebrates one-year anniversary by giving back to the community.

Summore Market Pick n Pay in Tembisa celebrated its one-year anniversary by donating food parcels to the grannies of the community on December 7.

The Summore Market, which is formed by Pick n Pay and Summore Hardware, opened its store on December 7, 2018. To commemorate the occasion, they randomly picked seven grannies to give food parcels to as a way of showing gratitude to the community for loyal support.

Pick n Pay owner Pilane Kwakwa and business partner Clement Mashego were part of the staff members who handed over the parcels to the grannies.

“We thought that we should give back to the community that we operate in. We chose grannies within the sector of our business, but randomly,” said Kwakwa.

“In a form of giving back to Summore Market Pick n Pay, Mahoekeng, in Tembisa, reached from its pockets to say we are buying grannies maize meal, cooking oil, blended juice and other needed food parcels,” added Kwakwa.

Kwakwa continued to say they have also reached out to the community through other programmes, including donating school shoes to children.

“We have donated R5 000 to Ntshonalanga Primary School earlier this year for school use. Through the mayoral programme called Social Responsibility for Children Programme, we donated 100 to 150 pairs of shoes.”

“Next year, we are aiming to make our celebrations bigger than this year, and give more in the shoes programme,” said Kwakwa.
