Summer fashion trends showcased at Moses Molelekwa Art Centre

Thabo Fashion Empire showcases summer trends at their fourth edition fashion show.

Thabo Fashion Empire (TFE) presented their fourth annual Fashion For Festive Summer Edition at Moses Molelekwa Art Centre.

The event aimed to showcase the summer trends made with a passion for fashion, lifestyle and the love of a camera. It also aims to reach the audience through showcasing fashion trends, giving models a platform to showcase their talents and also groom those who love the spotlight but do not want to model in pageants.

Thabo ‘T-Moc’ Mocwiri, founder and managing director of TFE, was born and raised in Tembisa. He said it was never easy when he started the company.

“At some point my team and I decided to become mobile and we had to do our rehearsals in the streets, all because we had no venue to work in. In other instances we would use my parents’ and friends’ houses to operate, but despite the odds, we found Moses Molelekwa Art Centre to use it for our rehearsals with TFE models, and now we are still operating and running.

Mocwiri said when he established TFE in 2015, he saw the need of having a company to serve not only Tembisa, but also other surrounding townships, even nationwide.

“There was an outcry for local fashion trends and some people wanted to pursue modelling, some photography, some designed cloths and other had an interest in attending live fashion shows. That’s how TFE was started.

“Through the years it was tough, but we pulled through regardless of the challenges the company had to go through, one being financial setbacks. We have amazed people in the community.

“Getting sponsorship was the toughest thing because people can see your vision, but remain reluctant to inject some income for the vision to prosper. With my staff of 60 people then, we had to move from one place to another.

“With the fashion show now in its fourth year, we aim to become bigger and better, giving people what they want to see from us. Tembisa people have shown a lot of support. We do this for them, because of their endless support we are on the map,” said Mocwiri.

“The brand also does sewing, embroidery, and online boutiques,” concluded Mocwiri.
