A thunder storm which hit parts of Ekurhuleni on Friday afternoon left a Boksburg man injured and several streets in Kempton Park and Brentwood Park flooded.

“ER24 paramedics received a distress call from our community-based emergency vehicle and were on the scene at about 4pm. The man had apparently been eating lunch with his family under a gazebo when the lightning struck nearby,” said Campbell.

He suffered burns to his leg as well as other moderate injuries and was treated on scene before being transported to a private hospital in the area for further care.

In Kempton Park, the intersection of Monument and Dann roads were flooded, as well as Stanley Road in Pomona. The parking area at the Pick n Pay Centre in Brentwood Park were also flooded.
