The matric class of 2019 will know their fate today when the Department of Basic Education officially releases the national results for the 2019 matric exams.
A total of 790 405 candidates wrote the 2019 final exam in 7 416 examination centres nationwide.
The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) announced private schools’ matric results at midnight on Tuesday (January 7).
Individual results for both public and independent schools will be available at schools on the morning of January 8 (Wednesday).
Basic Education minister Angie Motshekga, who will officially announce the national matric pass rate on Tuesday evening, said she was pleased that the 2019 National Senior Certificate examinations had been concluded successfully.
“It is indeed gratifying that the 2019 National Senior Certificate examination went fairly smooth, with only a few, manageable incidents across our examination centres,” she said.
