Eskom on Thursday morning announced that stage 2 load shedding will continue until 6am on Friday morning.
The power utility introduced stage 2 load shedding at 9pm on Wednesday night which was supposed to stop at 8am on Thursday morning.
In a statement issued by Eskom on Thursday morning, the system remains severely constrained and unpredictable and additional generation capacity was lost overnight, with breakdowns sitting at 14 000MW.

“Our teams are working tirelessly to return units from planned and unplanned outages. Owing to inadequate maintenance over a number of years, the system remains vulnerable to unplanned outages.”
The load shedding schedule for Kempton until 6am on Friday is:
7.30am to 10.30am: Geyser ripple control
10am to 1pm: Birch Acres, Terenure, Edleen, Van Riebeeck Park, Kempton West
12.30pm to 3.30pm: Bredell, Pomona, Glen Marais Extensions (49, 52, 89 & 98), Serengeti, Brentwood Park, Aston Manor, Nimrod Park, Parts of Kempton Park Ext 2 & Ext 4
3pm to 6pm: Kempton Park CBD, Kempton Part Extensions, Croydon, Cresslawn, Rhodesfield, Kelvin Estate and Esther Park
5.30pm to 8.30pm: Geyser ripple control
8pm to 11pm: Birchleigh, Birchleigh North, Glen Erasmia, Kaalfontein, Esselen Park and Esselen Park Extensions
10.30pm to midnight: Glen Marais, Allen Grove, Norkem Park, Birchleigh Extensions and Bonaero Park
