Ward 25 Clr Pieter Henning was elected as ward councillor in 2011 for the previous Ward 100.
“Due to changes in the ward boundaries I was then elected as ward councillor for Ward 25 in 2016. I am a second-term ward councillor and a large part of the old Ward 100 was incorporated into the new ward with a lot of additional areas,” said Henning.
The current ward is the largest geographical ward in the City of Ekurhuleni with a population of 32 436 residents with 15 937 registered voters.
“The ward is also one of the most diverse wards serving from the most vulnerable to the super rich.”
Ward 25 includes portions of Glen Marais, Pomona, Bredell, Serengeti, Eastlands, Benoni Agricultural Holdings, Marister A/H, portions of Fairleads, Zesfontein, Petit, Benoni Orchards, Ingelthorpe A/H, Putfontein, Hillcresst A/H, Gordonsview A/H, Lillyvale A/H, Shangrila A/H, Mayfield Extensin 8,9 and 11,Informal Settlement of Lindilani, Bagdad, Marikana and the latest from Kempton Park Glen Marika, Knoppiesfontein, Sentrarand, HillriseAH, Varkfontein, Bronkhorstfontein, Bapsfontein A/H, Cillvale A/H, Elandsfontein, Ventershog A/H, Tweefontein A/H, Nestpark A/H and Beshewa A/H.

“My recent successes in the ward are the improved waste collection services due to all the petitions, which was submitted to parliament and the continuous pressure by ward councillors.
“Also as a result of petitions, we have improvement, since the major outages in December and January, in the supply of electricity. The departments are currently doing large infrastructure improvements.
“My goal is to continue serving the community who elected me and to be accessible to assist residents with service delivery issues of importance.
“With the situation due to Covid-19, we are facing difficult times ahead, with unemployment which could also create opportunities for the entrepreneurs in our society.
“It’s not always possible to please all residents at all times, but I strive to ensure my visibility in the ward and to assist wherever I can.”
