An EMPD crime prevention operation led by multiple task forces on Wednesday, between 7am and 8pm, resulted in the arrest of four suspects in possession of various narcotics worth nearly R300 000.
Spokesperson for EMPD Kobeli Mokheseng reported that a blue Audi A4 sedan driven by a 27-year-old male was stopped and searched in Birch Acres on Kwartel Road.
“Officers found three ziplocks with a plastic pack of CAT and two plastic bags of crystal meth, valued at R200 000, stashed underneath the seats. On the same spot, a 31-year-old male in a white Suzuki hatchback was handcuffed once officers discovered two plastic bags containing dagga, valued at R76 000, hidden in the glove department.”
Both suspects were escorted to Norkem Park Police Station.
At Ebony Park next to Busy Corner, a male and female couple, aged 25 and 29, driving a green Ford Figo was arrested following a stop-and-search.
“Officers uncovered 465 sachets of nyaope, 45 pieces of rock, 55 pieces of crystal meth and five kilograms of dagga valued at R25000 along with cash stockpiled between door panels. The pair was marched to Ivory Park Police Station,” Mokheseng stated.
The arrested quartet facing charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substances are expected to appear in the Tembisa and Kempton Park magistrate’s courts soon.
Mokheseng added that multiple vehicles used in commission of the offences were impounded and taken to Van Rhyn Deep Pound in Benoni for further investigations.
This is an ongoing operation.
