A family of three that was abducted during a hijacking on Sunday evening around 9pm in Kempton West was found safely in Chloorkop.
This is after three armed suspects dropped them off in an open field.
The abducted couple was dropping off their friends, another couple residing in Handel Street, at their home. Both couples each had their one-year-old and nine-months-old babies respectively with them at the time the hijacking occurred.

The female victim residing in Handel Street explained that once they pulled up the driveway in their friend’s silver Renault Clio, they saw a blue Ford Fiesta making a U-turn further up the street.
“They blocked our car and three guys with guns jumped out and pointed their firearms at us. Two of them approached my friend’s car.
The one that was with me kept on saying that I must give him my nine-month-old son.
“I asked him please, my son is sick. Then he said my friend in the driver’s seat must get in the back of the Renault and that they were taking him, his wife and one-year-old child.”
By the time Express was on scene, the victim’s nine-month-old baby was already safe inside their house in Handel Street, while the other couple along with their one-year-old baby were still at large with the hijackers.
According to Sgt Johanna Madiga, the spokesperson for Norkem Park SAPS, the driver of the Renault noticed one suspect holding a firearm approaching him as they were dropping off their friends in Handel Street.
The driver said: “He pointed the gun and instructed me not to make noise and to sit in the back seat with my wife and child, together with the other armed suspect at gunpoint. They then drove away with us towards Chloorkop and dropped us at an open field near Allandale Road.
“The Ford Fiesta was still following us, but once we passed the Caltex garage they disappeared.”
Madiga said no shots were fired or injuries were recorded in the crime, and no arrests have been made. The hijacked Renault Clio is valued at R200 000 and has not yet been recovered.
“The case was opened at Rabie Ridge Police Station and brought to Norkem Park SAPS,” Madiga concluded.
