Six arrested over the weekend and six vehicle recoveries recorded

\Giblin said the suspects face charges of possession of drugs, dealing in drugs and possession of hijacked motor vehicles.

Over the past weekend, Benoni Flying Squad members arrested six suspects and recovered six motor vehicles in several areas of Kempton Park in which various drugs were also confiscated.

Grant Giblin, communications officer for the squad, reported that four suspects were arrested around North Rand Road, Kempton Park, in addition to Esiphetweni Section in Tembisa and Turvey Street in Benoni after allegedly being found in possession of drugs.

“Heroine, otherwise known as nyaope, and dagga were confiscated from the varying suspects. The estimated worth amount of the illicit substances have not been disclosed.”

Furthermore, members acting on received information arrested two suspects in separate incidents when they were found in possession of hijacked vehicles.

“In further policing over the weekend, four hijacked motor vehicles were recovered abandoned, including a silver Volkswagen Polo, stolen around Norkem Park, which was discovered at Teanong Section in Tembisa.

“Additionally, a gold Volkswagen Polo was impounded at Emangweni Section in Tembisa which had been reported stolen in Tembisa,” Giblin reported.

A white Kia K2700 was found abandoned at Lindelani Squatter Camp reported on a Daveyton case, followed by a white Volkswagen Golf at Xhosa Street in Tsakane previously, also reported on a Daveyton case.

“One suspect was arrested for being in possession of a white Ford Bantam which was recovered on Snake Road in Benoni formally reported on a Bedfordview case in September this year.

“Another suspect found in possession of a silver Audi A4 recovered in Kingsway Road in Daveyton was apprehended on a case reported in Cullinan.”

Investigation continues in all cases.

Giblin said the suspects face charges of possession of drugs, dealing in drugs and possession of hijacked motor vehicles.

They will appear in their respective local magistrate courts.
