Thembisa model finds confidence through fashion

She believes modelling has helped her become more confident by pushing her outside of her comfort zone and teaching her how to express herself with confidence and professionalism.

Growing up in Thembisa, Lindiwe Seepane has always appreciated the diversity and vibrant cultures that make her community unique.

Now stepping confidently into the world of modelling, she is using her journey to inspire young people to believe in themselves, embrace growth, and pursue their dreams without fear.

Describing herself as someone who loves laughing, joking around, and bringing positive energy to those around her, Seepane balances her creative passions with her studies towards CIMA. Outside of modelling, she enjoys music, dancing on her own, and singing out loud.

Her journey into modelling started from a simple desire to try something different and exciting.

“I wanted to do something fun for myself, without having to sit in an exam room,” she explained.

What began as curiosity quickly turned into something more meaningful after she discovered a community of women confidently doing what they loved.

Through her modelling experience, Seepane says she has learnt valuable lessons about resilience, discipline, and personal growth.

One of the biggest challenges she faced was overcoming self-doubt in competitive environments.

“There were moments where I questioned myself, but I overcame that by focusing on personal growth, staying consistent, and reminding myself why I started,” she said.

She believes modelling has helped her become more confident by pushing her outside of her comfort zone and teaching her how to express herself with confidence and professionalism.

“Over time, I’ve become more comfortable expressing myself, working with different people, and handling constructive feedback,” she said.

Seepane credits much of her growth to the support of her family and mentors, who continuously encouraged her during difficult moments and reminded her to believe in her abilities.

For young people struggling with confidence, she believes confidence is something that develops over time through experience and perseverance.

“A lot of people think self-confidence is something you either naturally have or don’t. In practice, confidence is usually built through repeated experiences of doing hard things, surviving discomfort, and seeing yourself improve over time,” she said.

Passionate about uplifting others, Seepane hopes her story will show young people that growth is not always perfect or easy.

“Most people only see polished outcomes, but the real journey is full of uncertainty, mistakes, restarts, and persistence,” she said.

She also emphasised the importance of representation for young people from communities where opportunities can sometimes feel limited.

“When young people see someone who looks like them or comes from a similar background succeeding, it makes their goals feel possible too,” she said.

Seepane said she is especially passionate about community initiatives that keep young people off the streets and teach commitment, resilience, and hard work, particularly through sport.

With ambitions to grow her career in modelling, media, and entertainment, she hopes to one day reach a broader audience and continue inspiring others through her journey.

“To me, success means growth, fulfilment, and staying true to yourself,” she said. “It’s about becoming the best version of yourself over time.”
