EMPD officers rescue kidnapped victim in Ivory Park
Both suspects were arrested and are facing charges of kidnapping, pointing of firearm and possession of unlicensed firearm.
EMPD Community Liaison Unit officers arrested two suspects aged 39 and 35 for kidnapping and possession of an unlicensed firearm in Ivory Park on September 3.
EMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Kelebogile Thepa said members received information from a concerned community member who witnessed two men kidnapping someone in the area.
The informant provided the members with the location where the victim was allegedly being held.

Thepa said officers responded swiftly and proceeded to a house in Extension 15, Ivory Park, where they pounced on two suspects and rescued a 21-year-old victim.
A further search of the property led to the discovery of a black 9mm Z88 unlicensed firearm.
The victim alleged that he had been held captive since September 1 and was threatened with a firearm.
Both suspects were arrested and face charges of kidnapping, pointing a firearm, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

They are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
The EMPD commended the community member for providing timely information, which enabled officers to respond swiftly and ensure the victim’s safe release.
