Operation Antifreeze marks strong first half of 2026

After a strong first half of 2026, Operation Antifreeze is appealing for continued donations to help complete its Winter Blanket Drive and expand programmes supporting vulnerable children and families.

As 2026 reaches its halfway mark, Operation Antifreeze says it is proud of the progress achieved alongside donors, volunteers, corporate partners and community supporters working to assist vulnerable children and families.

The organisation says each milestone reached so far this year reflects the power of collaboration and a shared commitment to creating lasting change in communities.

Project coordinator and fundraiser Patrick Thom said the success of the first six months belongs to everyone who supports the initiative.

“The success we’ve achieved during the first six months of 2026 belongs to every donor, volunteer, corporate partner and supporter who believes in our mission,” said Thom.

“Together, we’ve equipped children for school, brought warmth to families during winter, restored dignity through our hygiene programmes, and laid the foundation for another meaningful Christmas campaign.”
He added that every contribution continues to make a meaningful difference.

“Every contribution, whether big or small, creates hope where it is needed most. As we move into the second half of the year, we remain committed to serving our communities with compassion, integrity and purpose.”

One of the organisation’s key achievements this year has been the successful completion of its 2026 Stationery Pack Distribution Programme, which ensured learners began the school year with essential educational materials.

Thom said feedback from schools, caregivers and learners had been overwhelmingly positive, confirming that the initiative continues to remove barriers to education and build learner confidence.

The organisation’s Winter Blanket Drive is also nearing its target, with 270 blankets still needed to reach 900.

“As temperatures continue to drop, we are now just 270 blankets away from reaching our target,” said Thom.

Preparations for distribution are already underway, with the organisation thanking all individuals and businesses that have contributed to the campaign.

“Our Sanitary Drive for Boys and Girls continues to make a meaningful impact by providing essential hygiene products to young people in our communities,” he said.

“Access to these necessities helps improve school attendance, supports health and wellbeing, restores dignity and empowers learners to participate confidently in their education and daily lives.”

Thom said demand for the programme continues to grow, and the organisation remains committed to expanding its reach.

Planning is also underway for the 2026 Christmas Hamper Drive, one of the organisation’s largest annual initiatives, which provides food hampers and festive support to hundreds of families.

He said early preparation is key to meeting growing community needs and maximising impact.

“The progress made so far this year demonstrates what is possible when communities unite around a shared purpose,” said Thom.
