School ensures that the learner’s performance is the top priority.
Edleen Primary School is making notable strides both in and out of the classroom, reinforcing its commitment to quality education and community development.
With dedicated teachers, enthusiastic learners, and a growing number of initiatives aimed at academic and social growth, the school continues to serve as a pillar of support and opportunity for local families.
The school’s philosophy is summed up in its motto: “Knowledge is Power.”

“Our school is a former Model C school, which initially focused on English as a home language, with additional languages such as Afrikaans, Sepedi, and IsiZulu introduced later.
“Following government strategies, we have broadened our language offerings to strengthen multilingual skills among our learners,” said Edleen Primary School principal, Tshepho Lekgoro.
Teamwork is a key focus at Edleen Primary.
While learners are assessed individually, collaborative work is encouraged to help develop character and social responsibility.
“Encouraging teamwork helps prevent selfish attitudes, which can affect the school environment as well as behaviour at home and among friends,” Lekgoro said.
The school also works closely with parents to support academic success.
Teachers ensure parents are informed about homework and assignments, and verify that students are receiving guidance at home.
“Effective and active participation by the child, teacher, and parent is crucial. When parents are involved, the quality of a child’s work improves, and they benefit from structured support,” Lekgoro added.

Edleen Primary is fortunate to have engaged and educated parents who can assist with homework and contribute positively to learners’ academic progress.
The school has also implemented intervention strategies for learners facing academic challenges.
When necessary, external psychological support is sought to ensure that students receive appropriate attention.
“It’s important to identify learners who may need specialised support. Sending them to schools designed for special needs ensures they get the attention they require, rather than falling behind in a mainstream setting,” Lekgoro said.
Additional support is offered through extra classes for academically struggling learners, demonstrating the school’s commitment to unity and student development.
For high-performing learners, Edleen Primary provides recognition through academic awards, encouraging them to continue excelling.
