TUFA gave out prizes

Valentino Football Club walked away with R20 000 in cash, trophies and gold medals during the Tembisa United Football Association's (TUFA) prize giving ceremony.

The ceremony was held at Moriting Park on Sunday.

Valentino FC defeated all the teams that played during the Stefanutti promotional league held in Tembisa recently. The second runner up, New Generation FC, walked away with R10 000 in cash and silver medals. Third place Power FC walked away with R5000 cash and silver medals.

Speaking during the event, TUFA Chairman Sinky Mnizi, said he was delighted and honoured to have dedicated teams who are looking forward to making soccer grow in Tembisa.

“As management of TUFA, it is our intention to place greater focus on the personal and social development of the players. We are aiming to produce more talented players who will be playing for the big teams in our community,” he said.

Mnizi added that the lives of the youth are being snuffed out to crime, carnage on the roads and alcohol. “We want to create a love of football for the young children of Tembisa, so that they can spent most of their time on sports grounds, rather than being on the street. So many accidents are occurring where children get killed by speeding cars. We want to see a reduction of such accidents,” he explained.

When sharing his brief remarks with the coaches and well wishers, he then assisted with the presentation of prizes during the prize-giving ceremony.
