The club’s Liezl George told Express about the Covid-19 Tournament hosted on September 19 as part of a fund-raiser intended towards upgrades to the club.
George announced: “We had 72 players who enjoyed the first official competition held since lockdown started, joining from other clubs and districts with big names in the bowling community.”
These names are Wilma Richardson (Bowls South Africa Master winner and Ekurhuleni Masters winner), Jason Evan (Springbok and Bowls South Africa Masters winner), Gerry Baker (ex-Springbok player and Bowls South Africa committee member) and Wilson Malobolo (Springbok).
“The finals weren’t played due to a thunderstorm, but the winners of the day were Shaney and Serge Collard from Springs Town Bowling Club.”
