Sweet and Sour finish for Kempton Park FC
Kempton Park Football Club’s SAB Castle League side struggle to make it to the finals.
Kempton Park Football Club’s SAB Castle League side proved that they are a force to be reckoned with during the 2021/2022 season.
Although the side lost 3-0 against Luso Africa Football Club’s SAB Castle League side on Sunday, the local team gave it their all.
The fixture, held at Vosloorus Stadium, was the top four semi-final play offs.
Although they got knocked out, the local team fought tooth and nail to ensure a good standing on the league log throughout the season.
According to the head coach, Eddie Dista, the team truly gave it their best.
“In the previous season, 2020/2021, we had a very tough run and we managed to once again maintain our status in the fourth tier of South African football (SAB Castle League).
“Obviously, due to Covid-19 the region had to be structured into streams which made it even more difficult for every team.
“Going into a new season (2021/2022), where we were all well aware of the struggles we encountered the previous season, we managed to sign new faces and great ‘students’ this season. As much as we were looking to maintain, we actually ended up into the top four playoffs where we were, unfortunately, knocked out.
“The only thing I can really say about this season is how great the attitude of the players and the hard work we put in paid off. The commitment and the work done on-and-off the field was endless to try achieve results.
“To my assistant coach, Xolani Zwane, I say thank you for the hard work and the advice you gave which was always needed.”
Dista is proud of the team’s overall performance and how far they have come regardless of the outcomes of the playoffs.
“No team is perfect. We did great things and some will move but Kempton Park FC SAB Castle team has become a very competitive team,” confidently concluded Dista.
