Run/Walk for Life celebrates 40 years of fitness
From its humble beginnings, Run/Walk for Life, a proudly South African Company, has blossomed into a powerhouse in the health and wellness industry.

Run/Walk for Life, South Africa’s pioneering health and wellness institution marks its 40th anniversary in 2023.
Established in 1983 this fitness club has not only stood the test of time but has also grown into an internationally acclaimed fitness programme.
As the oldest fitness programme of its kind in South Africa, Run/Walk for Life has played a vital role in promoting health, wellness and an active lifestyle across the globe.

From its humble beginnings, Run/Walk for Life, a proudly South African Company, has blossomed into a powerhouse in the health and wellness industry, with more than 80 clubs spanning South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Spain, and the USA.
One of the many aspects that sets Run/Walk for Life apart is its unique distinction of being the only fitness programme officially endorsed by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of South Africa.
This recognition highlights the programme’s unwavering commitment to improving the health of everyone, regardless of their level of fitness.
Over the past four decades, Run/Walk for Life has achieved remarkable milestones, demonstrating its significant impact on the fitness landscape.
Some of the impressive statistics include:
• 156 820 000km logged
• 1 346 tons of weight lost
• 36 000 first 10km races
• 16 201 first half marathons
• 52 301 started running
• 131 200 started walking
In addition, RWFL has provided a source of income and employment for thousands of families, through its franchise opportunities.
Recognising the integral role of nutrition in the path to overall health and well-being, Run/Walk for Life launched “eatForLife” in 2015.
