Avion cricketers put on dazzling display

Kempton Park responded with a 49 all out in 17 overs to hand Avion a 38-run victory.

The top Avion batsmen for the match were Matthew Oelofse with 10 runs and Joshua Oelofse and Jaun Jacq Kruger who each racked up eight runs not out and retired.

The pick of the bowlers was Matthew Oelofse, Danru de Kock, Kian Wilken and Ethan Bond who each picked up two overs.

The Avion U8 Sibali side was up next against Katlehong.

Katlehong won the toss and elected to field first.

The Avion side made 114/2 in 20 overs. Katlehong replied with 55/7 in their 20 overs. Avion secured a 59-run victory.

Mason Marneweck was named the best batsman of the day with his 30-n-out off 39 balls. Wakhile Nkuna followed suit with 13 runs off 24 balls.

Lathan Naude secured two wickets for five runs in three overs while Ben Scholtz brought home one wicket for one run in two overs.

In the U10 Impala league, Avion faced the Benoni Sabers and Benoni won the toss electing to field first.

Avion made 141 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs and Benoni replied with 128 for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs at bat.

Avion won the match by 13 runs.

Henru Straus was announced as the best batsman with 50 runs from 27 balls.

Juandre van Rensburg was the cream of the bowlers.

Facing Duduza in the Impala 2 league the Avion side took to the crease first and made 120 for the loss of seven wickets in 25 overs.

Duduza replied with 36 all out in 17 overs for Avion to win by 86 runs.

Players from Avion took on Actonville Cricket Club’s U10 side in the Sibali League.

Actonville won the toss and elected to bat first making 168 runs for the loss of six wickets in 25 overs.

Avion replied with 148/3 in 25 overs for Actonville to win by 20 runs.

Avion’s Aiden Simpson led the batting with 40 not out from 73 balls while Benjamin Vorster smashed 32 of 50 balls.

Next up was the Avion U12 Impala 2 side against Springs Old Boys (SOB).

SOB won the toss and elected to bat first setting a target of 118 runs all out in 25 overs.

Avion replied with 99/9 in 25 overs.
