Avion Park golfer heads to the World Longest Drive champs
“It is a tremendous honour to carry the Avion Park and South African names onto the global stage,” he said.
Kempton Park’s Andrew Mare is set to represent Avion Park Golf Club and South Africa at the World Longest Drive Championships.
He will leave for the USA on Friday, September 26.
Introduced to golf as a teenager, Andrew quickly developed a passion for the sport’s blend of precision and power.

Inspired by Bryson DeChambeau and local long drive competitors, he gravitated towards the discipline that celebrates athleticism and strength.
“I’ve always been drawn to the raw power of long drive,” he said. “While power is essential, it must be supported by sound mechanics. Balance is the key to consistent results.”

Andrew’s preparation has included strength training, swing refinement, and mental focus. He credits his family, friends, and club for their constant support and hopes to inspire other young golfers in Kempton Park.
On September 11, Avion Park Golf Club hosted a fundraising golf day for the young star.
On the day, 80 golfers fielded the call to help Andrew get to the USA.
“It is a tremendous honour to carry the Avion Park and South African names onto the global stage,” he said.
“My goal is to deliver my personal best and represent my community with pride.”
