Ekurhuleni warns suppliers about tender and quotation scams

The City of Ekurhuleni has alerted bidders to fraudulent schemes in which scammers impersonate municipal officials to solicit payments and sensitive information.

The City of Ekurhuleni has issued a warning to potential bidders and suppliers following reports of fraudulent activities linked to municipal tenders and quotations.

According to the city, scammers are impersonating City of Ekurhuleni officials and attempting to deceive suppliers into sharing sensitive information or making fraudulent payments. In some cases, the perpetrators are cloning the email addresses of city employees to send out requests for quotations (RFQs).

The municipality has stressed that it does not send RFQs directly to bidders and has urged suppliers to remain vigilant when receiving any communication claiming to be from the city.
