After yesterday’s (9 January) hail storm caused a power outage, Mogale City Municipality are working hard at restoring power to some areas before the end of the day.
After it was suspected that Krugersdorp North’s substation had been severely damaged by the storm, the News, along with many other confused residents, showed up at the substation to inquire how long the wait will be.
“We are working at making sure no electrical equipment is wet so that we can turn the station back on,” said one of Mogale’s employees who greeted the now minor audience at the gate.
It seemed that the hail resting on the roof of the substation caused water to flow between any open space it could find, and finally streaming into the substation’s building.
But, like some statements on the Krugersdorp Community Forum’s Facebook page had alluded, is seem that the power outage will not last as long as three days.
“Nothing exploded or is broken, we just want to ensure that it’s safe to turn the power back on,” he said.
