Brace for the heat: Gauteng temperatures set to rise
A warmer spell is expected to sweep across Gauteng this week, with temperatures of up to 27°C forecast for Johannesburg and even hotter conditions possible elsewhere.
Gauteng residents are being advised to prepare for warmer weather this week, with temperatures expected to rise significantly and Johannesburg forecast to reach highs of around 27°C later in the week.
A weather enthusiast known as the Weather Hooligan informed the Krugersdorp News that the Western Cape, Northern Cape and surrounding interior could experience a significant rise in temperatures, with hot and dry conditions potentially developing as the atmospheric pattern changes.
He said he is also closely monitoring conditions in Johannesburg and across the Highveld.
“The same broader circulation could help induce and enhance the heat across the Highveld, bringing a much warmer spell to Johannesburg and surrounding areas than we would normally expect for late August,” he said.
He explained that strong sunshine, dry air and the positioning of pressure systems could allow temperatures to rise rapidly.
He added that forecast models can and will change, but said the signal for warmer conditions is strong.
