The School Governing Body of Mandisa Shiceka Secondary School responded to the allegations that their principal dr Joseph Karyn allegedly sexually assaulted a pupil at the school and would like to restore the school’s image and that of their principal.
Documents in the possession of the NEWS alleges that Karyn touched her breasts and showed her pornography while being alone in his office.
The Krugersdorp Police Station investigated the matter and found that the allegations were false.
The police seized the video footage from the principal’s office and also the alleged cell phone and after observing the video footage they discovered that there were no elements of any sexual crime committed and that the victim was not alone in his office.
The police report says that the pupil was with another pupil in his office.
“Upon investigation it was found that a teacher instigated the pupils to make false allegations against the principal. She even phoned the journalists of the daily newspaper the Sowetan and had an interview with them,” the report states.
“The teacher then told [the pupil] to disclose to the journalist that the principal touched her breasts. When the pupil came to the police station to report the matter, she never mentioned that the principal did so.
“This teacher also gave the pupil an amount of R1 000 and told her not to mention her name.”
On further investigation by the police several pupils who were in the same class as the pupil were interviewed by police officers.
On conclusion the police found that all the allegations against the principal seemed false.
The report states that the investigation was discussed with the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s prosecutor and that he also found that there are no elements of crime committed therefore resulting that no criminal charges will be instituted against the principal.
Teenage Dladla, a member from the school’s governing body says that they strongly condemn the way educators use the pupils to make false allegations against the principal.
He says that educators are using evil tactics to retain higher positions at the school.
“We condemn the way educators use their affiliation to their union to cause chaos in our school to further their personal ambitions such as obtaining management positions.”
Dladla further says that they would like to urge the department of education to be rational and vigilant before they take action against its employees based on unfound allegations.
“In this process so many individuals lost their status, integrity and respect. We as the School’s Governing Body will not tolerate any unethical and unprofessional actions of any stakeholder in this institution that will compromise the image of the school.”
He says he hopes that the Gauteng Department of Education will take serious action against the educators who were instrumental in denting the image of the principal, the school and the Department of Education.
Dladla provided the NEWS with proof that the principal have been attacked in the past. A document showed that the principal were slurred racial remarks about three years ago.
The document stated that he is not fit for the job, steal school equipment and school fees and that he is a racist.
“Please go and eat achaar, we want a black principal – go to Lenasia and teach Indians.”
Dladla says since Karyn was the principal the school’s pass rate have increased tremendously, receiving a pass rate of over 80 per cent last year.
“He is an excellent principal and would never do anything to hamper his or the school’s reputation. He is a respected and educated man that will give up his time to make a difference to the community.”
