Why not put your unused computer to work?

Acquiring a skill is of the utmost importance to people looking for a job.

Mandisa has the unusual surname of Old Joe.

She lives in Kagiso and her passion in life is to teach people computer skills, especially those pertaining to the keyboard.
She has a room, a converted garage, where she works but her equipment is completely outdated and almost useless. She teaches people for free and has no funds to buy new equipment.

When DA Councillor De Waal Venter asked her why she concentrates on keyboard skills, she answered that the keyboard is the doorway to all the facilities the computer offers.

She starts by making her students accustomed to the QWERTY layout of the keyboard. This layout gets its name from the first five keys in the top row on the left of the keyboard q-w-e-r-t-y.

Mandisa has a second room, but she cannot get Seta accreditation as the room does not have a ceiling. A severe storm in November 2011 ripped the roof off. Mandisa repaired the roof, but due to a lack of funds she cannot install a ceiling.

Acquiring a skill is of the utmost importance to people looking for a job. The better skilled one is the better one’s chances are.
People like Mandisa are doing their best to arm people with the skills they need to improve their position in life.

Councillor Venter appeals to readers to think of Mandisa if they have unused computer equipment. Mandisa can make very good use of it.
